Controversial spyware company announces new human rights guidelines

NSO group, an Israel-based spyware company, has announced a new human rights policy to embed relevant human rights protections throughout its business and governance systems. This announcement came after repeated scandals, as  NSO Group's spyware, Pegasus, was found to be used to target activists, journalists, and members of civil society in countries such as Mexico, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates. According to the Varsity, NSO Group's new policy is intended to align the company's practices with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. The company also announced a new external whistleblower policy and three new senior advisors, US governor Tom Ridge, former French ambassador Gerard Araud and US official Juliette Kayyem.
