Russia's communications watchdog, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) accused Google's YouTube video-sharing platform, which has shut out Russian state-funded media globally, of becoming "one of the key platforms spreading fakes (fake images) about the course of (Russia's) special military operation on the territory of Ukraine, discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation". On these grounds, they will apply measures against the company including a ban on advertising on the platform and its information services, as they allegedly violate Russian law. The sanctions will extend to many of the company's services, such as Google Search, Google Play store, YouTube, YouTube Music, Google Chat and Gmail.
