According to TechCrunch, CNIL, the French data protection authority, has launched an investigation into TikTok over GDPR breach. This investigation results from an initial complaint in May 2020 regarding how TikTok handles user data in relation to requests to delete content. The investigation has since widened to include issues related to transparency requirements about how it processes user data; users' data access rights; transfers of user data outside the EU; and steps the platform takes to ensure the data of minors is adequately protected.
