On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar said his government 'will expose' surveys that portray a 'bad picture about "Freedom of Press" in India', according to a media report.

The latest survey by Reporters Without Borders showed that India dropped two places on the 2020 World Press Freedom Index, ranking 142nd among 180 countries. India's neighbours - Bhutan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka - rank higher.

Norway has been holding first place on the index for the fourth year, while China ranks 177th, only three places above North Korea, which is last on the list.
