According to a report, the Northern Ireland Department of Health has launched a new COVID-19 passport app that will facilitate the sharing of vaccine credentials. The app, called CovidCertNI, allows people to store a digital record of their vaccination and use it to prove their vaccination status when traveling and entering restaurants, public transit, and entertainment venues. The app is equipped with facial recognition technology to link a user to their health records, but also uses QR codes to protect user's privacy when they need to share the vaccination record with another party.
