Experts have expressed concern that Russia' largest search engine Yandex has turned into a significant on-ramp for child sexual images and a platform for spreading illicit photographs.
While there are various controls which block sexual images of children online and companies like Google, Bing are collaborating to create blacklists of illicit web sites and unlawful photographs that are maintained by the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), however Yandex is not a member of the coalition. It is believed that Yandex not being a part of this collaboration could be the result of the Russian government's control policy.
