The Smart Africa Trust Alliance (SATA) has been signed by African countries -including Ghana, Gabon, Guinea, Rwanda, Tunisia, and Zimbabwe -during the 'Transform Africa Summit 2023' organised by Smart Africa, a Rwanda-based tech initiative. SATA aims to promote secure and responsible digital transformation in Africa by fostering data and digital identity interoperability.

The SATA declaration aims to (i) encourage the adoption and expansion of digital public goods, (ii) streamline digital integration and data sharing, and (iii) promote the development of digital identity ecosystems. The initiative brings together governments, private sector organisations, civil society, and academia to tackle the challenges and opportunities associated with digitalisation and innovation in the continent.

Smart Africa has also signed partnership agreements with various entities, including the African Development Bank, to promote digital transformation in different areas, such as digital trade and payment policies.
