According to the governor of the US state Virginia, the state has launched a contact tracing app based on Google and Apple's API called COVIDWISE, which is the first statewide app to use technology developed for the purpose. Based on bluetooth technology, the app does not collect user data and keeps an anonymous proximity list. The Virginia government launched an information and education campaign to promote the wide adoption and use of COVIDWISE and to dispel misinformation.
