Vodafone is the first UK telecom provider to share access to its unused 4G spectrum with other providers following the telecom regulator Ofcom's decision to allow shared spectrum amongst operators. The aim is to increase connectivity in rural communities within Britain. Excess spectrum in the 2.6 GHz band will be shared with a local broadband provider, StrattoOpencell, who will provide fixed wireless broadband to customers with speeds up to 120 Mbps.
