The Alliance for Accountable Internet (A4AI) has launched a new report titled Advancing Meaningful Connectivity: Towards Active and Participatory Digital Societies. The report which provides the outcome of the first ever multi-country study of the A4AI's Meaningful Connectivity framework charts a clear path on the way to 'support more inclusive societies and strengthen digital economies.' The study considers nine low and middle income countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America estimates the number of people with meaningful connectivity using mobile phone surveys. The report makes some key findings, but in summary, it measures the gap in the number of people with just basic internet access and those with meaningful connectivity, and examines what this digital divide means.
