Global mobile industry group GSM Association (GSMA) calls on policymakers to put in place a regulatory sandbox for a period of 18-24 months to cross border flow of data among ASEAN member states. The regulatory sandbox is seen as a 'stepping stone towards a formal mechanism for cross border data flows'. According to GSMA, this is a prerequisite for the digital economy and innovative projects using the Internet of things (IoT), 5G services and the like.
