In order to address the issue of video game addiction among children, China has passed a law whereby children will be restricted to play video games for only three hours a week. Under this law youngsters in China will not be allowed to play video games during weekdays between Monday to Thursday and be restricted to one hour per day from Friday to Sunday, between 8pm to 9pm.
Authorities claim these strict measures are aimed to curb the growing video game addiction among youth that leads to a host of societal ills such as distracting youngsters from school and family responsibilities.
While the announcement does not mention the age of minors, yet previous regulations that were targeted at young gamers were drawn at below 18 years.
