A court in Beijing accepted a lawsuit filed by ByteDance against Tencent Holdings over alleged monopoly practices. ByteDance claimed that Tencent was limiting access to content from Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, on its WeChat platform and therefore abusing its dominant market position. WeChat has more than one billion users and has long controlled what content and services users can interact with, according to Yahoo. The lawsuit is the first case since the Chinese authorities started tightening antitrust regulations on the platform economy.
