Within its plan to develop the information infrastructure, the Egyptian government spent US$1.6 billion to increase Internet speed and is targeting to connect 2 million homes at a cost of US$400 million. The government has set out 'to reach 20 Mbps at the end of 2020, and 40 Mbps in 2021,' explained the Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat. Additionally, as part of the digital transformation plan, the government is working on developing workers' digital skills and launching services through mobile applications and digital platforms.
