Twitter has issued a statement declaring that 'more than 900 accounts from the People's Republic of China (PRC) attempted to create political discord in Hong Kong' by fueling the spread of misinformation over the past protests. The company added that the evidence showed that the accounts were part of "a coordinated state-backed operation'. Facebook has also identified Chinese accounts responsible for coordinated inauthentic behaviour. Although such accounts were fake, Facebook's investigation that they were linked 'to individuals associated with the Chinese government'
