The UN confirmed that hackers breached its systems earlier this year after a Bloomberg report. The statement comes after private cybersecurity company Rescurity warned that login credentials for UN's project management software Umoja are available for sale on the dark web. It is likely that the hackers have entered the system using the stolen login credentials for Umoja.
The UN spokesperson also stated that further attacks linked to the earlier breach have been detected and are being responded to.
