India's Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh launched a proof of life mechanism for pensioners involving facial recognition technology. He stated that the technology would ease the lives of retired and elderly citizens through easier identification. The proof of life will be required annually.
The Minister also added that in addition to facial recognition, the Indian government had introduced-Bhavishya- a common framework for all departments dealing with pensioners.
