Menstrual hygiene brand Kotex, in partnership with Ogilvy, has launched a new educational campaign 'Period Planet', which is an immersive, web-based game designed to combat the misinformation, stigma and myths surrounding women's menstruation. The campaign has been launched nationally in Australia and is expected to be rolled out to other markets in the Asia-Pacific region over the course of the year.
In the game, as players embark on an immersive journey to learn more about puberty, the reproductive system and period management, their mission is to transform Period Planet from a dark, lifeless moonscape where myths and misinformation have run amok to a healthy planet. Players are rewarded with a downloadable version of their game avatar, and free period products and encouraged to use a period tracker to keep track of their periods as they complete the 4 levels of the game.
Initial feedback from teachers since the Australian launch was excellent, with 92 per cent saying they would use Period Planet as an educational tool in their class and 95 per cent saying they would recommend it to another teacher.
