In his address to the UN General Assembly 2023, the President of Namibia, Hage Gottfried Geingob, emphasised the immense potential of the digital revolution and emerging technologies. However, he also cautioned that it is crucial to ensure that developing countries are not left behind in this digital transformation. President Geingob noted that technology has the capability to bridge gaps in education, healthcare, and economic development. To achieve this, he stressed the importance of facilitating technology transfer, adoption, skill development, and collaboration.

Furthermore, the President welcomed the recently unveiled plan known as UN 2.0. Underscoring that this 'Quintet of Change' aims to provide the UN states with cutting-edge capabilities in data, digital innovation, and expertise.

About UN 2.0

This initiative, guided by the Secretary-General's vision, fosters cutting-edge data, digital solutions, innovation, foresight, and behavioural science capabilities. The objective of UN 2.0 is to deliver more substantial results, provide better support to member states, and accelerate progress towards sustainable development goals (SDGs).
