A new investigation by BuzzFeed News shows that Sensor Tower, an analytic firm which also owns several popular apps, has used VPN and ad-blocking apps to collect users' personal data. According to BuzzFeed, Sensor Tower's apps prompted users to install a root certificate, providing its issuer access all traffic and data passing through a phone. A spokeperson for the company indicated that "the vast majority of these apps listed are now defunct (inactive) and a few are in the process of sunsetting."
