US Senator Cruz convenes a new hearing on the IANA stewardship transition

US senator Ted Cruzwill convene a new hearing in the US Congress on the IANA stewardship transition. The hearing, titled, 'Protecting Internet Freedom: Implications of Ending US Oversight of the Internet', will be held on 14 September, and is intended to 'investigate the possible dangers of the Obama administration's proposal to relinquish oversight of the Internet to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)'. In a speech delivered in the Senate earlier this week, sen. Cruz re-emphasised his opposition to the transition, and asked his colleagues 'to stand united to stop the Obama administration's Internet giveaway'.
