Alphabiet's balloon-powered 4G internet service Loon will be available in various regions in Mozambique soon. A collaboration with local operator Vodacom will provide 4G service with data, voice,SMS and USSD in the Cabo Delgado and Niassa provinces. Loon has been providing access in regions of Puerto Rico, Kenya and Peru and recently formed the HAPS alliance with telecoms and related companies to advocate for using stratospheric balloons for the provision of Internet services. Alphabet and Vodacom expect the necessary infrastructure installation and testing to be completed in the next few months.
