China passes controversial anti-terrorism law

Last Sunday, China passed an anti-terrorism law that would require Internet companies to hand over technical information and help with decryption when asked for by the state's security agents. The new law was approved after much international controversy, as critics said that the draft version 'used a recklessly broad definition of terrorism, gave the government new censorship powers and authorized state access to sensitive commercial data'.
