Customers of the convenience store Wawa have filed a lawsuit against the company, following a data breach revealed in December 2019. Wawa CEO Chris Gheysens publicly acknowledged that malicious software got on Wawa's payment-processing servers, potentially revealing the payment information of millions of customers. According to CBS News, customers who used their debit or credit card at Wawa stores between March 4 and December 10 may have had their card data exposed. Wawa has announced it will pay for a year of identity-theft protection and credit monitoring for affected consumers.
