The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has launched a strike in Hollywood over the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in writing film and television scripts. The WGA fears that AI may take over writers' jobs and produce subpar work, while also opening the door to intellectual property theft. The union has proposed that AI-generated material should not be considered 'literary material' or 'source material' and that existing scripts should not be used to train AI. However, Hollywood studios have rejected the calls for restrictions, stating they are currently not ready to discuss the matter.
