Huawei extended its DigiTruck programme for the second year in Kenya to promote digital equity and workforce development through public private partnerships (PPPs) aiming to bridge the digital divide and reduce participation and entry constraints for marginalised communities. The programme is supported by different partners including the National Youth Council, the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the GSMA, and Safaricom. It is designed through a solar-powered mobile classroom equipped with internet and smart devices with the aim of training youth in rural areas on digital skills to improve their access to job opportunities online. To this aim, it provides a 20 to 40 hour course on different topics including e-waste management, online safety, smartphones and the internet, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
