To better prepare countermeasures against cyberattacks, intelligence agencies from Japan, the US, and the EU participated in a combined exercise.
The exercise itself took place behind closed doors. More than 40 officials participated, mostly online, representing 13 nations and regions in the Indo-Pacific area, including India, Taiwan, and ASEAN nations.
A computer system used in power plants and other crucial infrastructure facilities was mimicked during the drill. It was set up under the premise that the facility had been the target of a cyberattack. The participants examined effective attack defence strategies. These include methods for recovering from unlawful access.
The nations taking part in the exercise promised to continue working together across national boundaries and to exchange intelligence to thwart cyberattacks in the Indo-Pacific area.
