Uber has extended the Uber Green programme that encourages drivers to use all-electric and hybrid vehicles to more than 1400 cities in the USA . The initiative is part of Uber's broader aim to become a zero-emission platform by 2040. Uber Green gives customers the possibility to directly request an all-electric or hybrid car. Drivers are compensated with an extra US$0.50 for every trip completed. Riders are surcharged by US$1. Uber announced to have set aside US$800 million to get its drivers to use electric cars by 2025.
