The 2020 World Water Development Report (WWDR 2020) entitled Water and Climate Change tackles the role of technological innovation in the context of water management. Among other things, WWDR 2020 explores how satellite imagery, advanced sensor technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT) could assist in water loss management, monitoring of water quality, and the impacts of climate change on water. The report dedicates special attention to big data, namely in terms of decision-making in the water sector, through measures such as data visualisation which transforms data into information.
