Google has reached asettlement with the Federal Trade Commissionin the US to pay a fine of multi billion dollars for violating data privacy laws related to children by YouTube. It has been reported that YouTube has been inadequately protecting children and collecting their data that violates the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) that prohibits tracking and targeting of users below 13 years.
The case is now with the Justice Department, which rarely upends the FTC's settlements with companies under its watch.
