Pakistan and the United Kingdom have agreed to collaborate on removing hateful and terrorist content from social and online media. This decision was reached during a meeting between Acting British High Commissioner Andrew Dagleish and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb.
They also discussed enhancing diplomatic relations between the two countries, focusing on collaboration in several media-related areas such as traditional media, digital media, media training, and filmmaking. The Pakistani minister emphasised the importance of film and media in showcasing a country's culture and positive identity and mentioned that the government would receive assistance from the UK's contemporary media curriculum to train journalists.
The Acting British High Commissioner commended Pakistan's progress in the information sector and its improved ranking in the Global Media Freedom Index by 7 positions. Both parties expressed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
